To collect data on factors likely affecting the risk of oocyst excretion we developed a questionnaire (see Additional file 1) which, based on previous reports [ 25, 26], aimed to detect two potential clusters of risk/preventive factors relating to (i) hygiene practices and (ii) characteristics of the farrowing facilities.
The training program for the HEWs includes 16 major packages under five components: (i) hygiene and environmental sanitation (i.e. construction, usage and maintenance of sanitary latrine), (ii) family health service (i.e. family planning, vaccination), (iii) disease prevention and control (i.e. HIV, TB, malaria), (iv) health education and communication and (v) nutrition.
In this study the emphasis was towards 'routine' rather than 'targeted' hygiene i.e. 'parents were asked how often in a day they wiped the child's face and hands, whether hands were wiped before meals and how often the child was given a bath or shower'.
I know I have good hygiene, I dress appropriately, and I mind my own business.
You heard me right -- I said "hygiene".
I addition, hygiene habits are promoted while providing supplies and practical information to prevent diseases such as cholera.
I had zero hygiene concerns until I saw this, then it was literally all I could think of.

In the early period (1946 1954) the situation in mines was aggravated by poor industrial hygiene (i.e., dry drilling) and also by extremely low ventilation rates, i.e., air velocities <0.1 m s−1 (Bauer, 1997; Dahmann et al, 2008).
One student commented, "I feel like I've got better hygiene skills and I found [the Guide] useful because you have the same [residents you are looking after during the placement], so you can see changes in their skin and new things, and any deterioration, so that's been good" (BN2037, Wk4).
It suggests users practice good password hygiene (i.e. not reusing passwords from other services; and making sure you create robust and unique passwords for all your services… ), and also switching on two-factor authentication to make it harder for hackers to gain access.
