It included sequentially: (i) a minimal 12-hour fast the night preceding the examination, (ii) collection of blood and urine at the same time (9 am), (iii) ingestion of a standardized meal (450 calories) over a period of 10 minutes, (iv) collection of a second blood sample to determine ghrelin values 1 hour after eating.
Several criteria were applied to compile the protein sequence collection: (i) A minimal quality for proteomes' completeness.
The rationales for this was that (i) a minimal number of sequences are required for reliable genotyping; and (ii) true variants must be sequenced several times within the same sample in order to be validated and distinguished from artifactual variants (Table 1).
