The project of developing a national framework of reference for English, provisionally called China's Standards of English (CSE), was again a top-down decision made by the Ministry of Education MOEE) in the hope of improving the consistency of China's English language educational policies and practices (Lin 2015, 2016; Liu 2015).
Working with members of the target community to identify culturally specific educational needs, language preferences and to test the suitability of the materials allowed us in a five step process, to effectively adapt and translate existing evidence-based English language educational materials.
