The word 'classify' is correct and usable in written English
It is commonly used to describe the act of grouping or categorizing things based on their characteristics or properties. For example, "The librarian helped me classify the books according to genre." This sentence means that the librarian assisted in organizing the books based on their specific categories, such as fiction, non-fiction, or poetry. Another example could be, "The scientist was able to classify the new species of insect based on its unique features." This means that the scientist was able to categorize the newly discovered insect according to its distinct characteristics and classify it within a specific group of insects.
