The second group of bands is attributed to such BO4 units whereas the first group of bands is identified as due to the stretching relaxation of the B O bond of the trigonal BO3 units and the band at 710 cm−1 is due to the bending vibrations of B O-B linkages in the B O-Be network [26, 27, 28, 29].

The B-linkage family contains two members, B1 and B2.

To confirm B-linkage of these sequences, we extracted genomic DNA with PUREGENE DNA Isolation Kit (Gentra) from fly strains with and without B's.
The relatedness of the members of the B-linkage family is based on the presence of short regions of sequence identity, which are punctuated by regions of nucleotide divergence.
The comparison of the 51 shared markers revealed associations between maps and apparently high levels of synteny, since all but one of the B linkage groups show single main correspondences to the A-map.
The long-term needs identified were a) generation of genome sequence data for ecologically relevant species; and b) linkage of molecular and biochemical responses to adverse alterations in survival, growth and development, and reproduction.
