Fresh evidence of a gender imbalance in UK radio has been revealed by a survey showing that 20% of shows hosted by a solo presenter involve female broadcasters.

This may sound grumpy, but research last year by the industry body Sound Women found that just 20% of all solo presenter voices on the UK's 30 biggest radio stations were women.
And most of them broadcast at the weekends, with nearly a quarter (23.3%) of solo presenter voices on Saturday and Sunday being female.
Meanwhile, Heart has recorded the biggest drivetime show in London, with Emma B's first six months as the show's solo presenter proving more popular than Richard Bacon on Capital, who has now left the station.
