It also shows that the death rate range was from 1.6% (4th month, 2 deaths among 125 who were discharged) to 7.2% (7th month, 7 deaths among 104 who were discharged).
We have also considered two more phases in patients who assumed riboflavin for 4 or 6 months, and evaluated the last 3 months of therapy: Phase 2a (2nd, 3rd, and 4th month) and Phase 2b (4th, 5th, and 6th month), respectively (Fig. 1).
Specifically, in 150 Inuit infants from Northern Quebec Canadaa), estimated postnatal serum PCB-153 levels during the 4th month of life (mean, 211 ng/g lipids; range, 5 1,548) were associated with increased spontaneous activity at 11 months (Verner et al. 2010).
At the mothers' discretion, the breast-fed infants could be fed up to 200 ml/d of F1·8 during the 4th month.
Local disease progression without metastases was observed in two patients (3.7%; 95%CI: 0 8.7%); one after the 4th month, and the other after the 6th month of the treatment.

In FGF21KO diabetic mice, the aortic Nrf2 expression was significantly up-regulated, especially at the 4th month (Fig. 5e& f), indicating an adaptive response to the aggravated oxidative stress.
FGF21 deletion obviously exacerbated aortic 4-HNE accumulation at the 4th month after diabetes onset compared to that of the WT diabetic mice (P = 0.062).
As regards treatment duration, in the Australian trial patients were given riboflavin for 3 months [13], whereas, in our opinion, 4 months seem to be necessary to achieve the best results; in fact, frequency reduction increased up to the 4th month of therapy (Phase 2a), when there was the most elevated rate of responders.
At the 4th month after diabetes onset, FGF21KO diabetic mice showed aggravated aortic cell apoptosis when compared to WT diabetic mice (P = 0.079).
Furthermore, its expression was up-regulated at the 2nd month after diabetes onset in FGF21KO mice and was much higher than that of WT diabetic mice at the 4th month after diabetes onset (Fig. 3c& d).
