Percentages per postcode were calculated for the following sociodemographic factors: females, age group 0 to 4 years, age group 5 to 14 years, age group 15 to 24 years, age group 25 to 39 years, age group 40 to 64 years, age group 65 to 74 years, age group 75 years and older, non-Western immigrants, low-income households, and single-person households.

We also find that in the 2 4 year age group, the large majority of gun deaths are self-inflicted, while for other ages, 0 1, 5 14, deaths are far more likely to be other inflicted (Wintemute et al. 1987; Moms Demand Action 2014).
