For all rats, the first session involved 2 foraging trials with the maze in the standard configuration.
Therefore, the aims of the present study were to determine whether Australasian gannets alter their: (1) at-sea movements; and/or (2) foraging effort in response to variability in a proxy for local prey conditions.

The bees flew one of the shortest possible routes in 36·99 ± 3·49% (n=15) of their 40 foraging bouts (Fig. S3).
