She is supervising a federal investigation into a fire at a BP refinery in Texas last year which killed 15 people and injured 180.The CSB, which will release its final report on the accident next year, argues that the overflowing tank that caused the fire was too small, had leaked in the past, and should have been replaced, but was not, due to penny-pinching.

CSB performs two main functions by counteracting p53 activity: first, by interacting with p53, CSB releases and redistributes the limiting transcriptional co-factor p300 acetyl-transferase to gene expression programs with opposite purposes (pro-survival pathways) [12]; second, CSB down-regulates the cellular levels of p53, by stimulating its ubiquitination and degradation [13].
Comparison of mutation frequencies at lacI between OGG1, CSB m/m, (mice which contain severely truncated version of CSB gene) and CSB m/mOGG1 animals has revealed an elevated level in the latter suggesting that CSB is involved in the inhibition of mutations caused by oxidative DNA damage in a non-transcribed gene [ 28].
JmjD2A-C isoforms are also found to catalyze demethylation of trimethyl-lysine peptides of chromatin repressors WIZ, CDYL1, CSB and G9a proteins [ 21], indicating that KDM4 members can antagonize chromatin repressive marks and regulate gene transcription.
To identify CRs, we looked for conserved sequence blocks 1, 2 and/or 3 (CSB I III), characteristic elements of vertebrate CRs that are considered to be to be essential for the synthesis of D-loop DNA and for H-strand replication (e.g., [ 55]).
CSB(GM10903) has moderate levels of p-HSP27 and CSB(GM10905) has low p-HSP27 levels.
Two ATP-dependent chromatin remodelling activities have been suggested to be involved in the activation of ribosomal genes: the B-WICH complex, consisting of a core of William syndrome transcription factor (WSTF), SNF2h and nuclear myosin 1 (NM1) [21], [21], and the CSB IP/150 complex, comprising Cockayne syndrome protein B (CSB), TFIIH and TIF 1B [22].
