Quantum communications protocols, such as quantum key distribution (QKD) [1, 2], quantum teleportation [3], and Bell's inequality tests [4], are limited to transmission distances of only a few hundred kilometers [5 7] under the restrictions of present technology.

The appearance of such Majorana fermions is expected to lead to a number of unusual electronic properties such as zero-bias conductance anomalies [17, 18], non-Abelian statistics [19], electron teleportation [20], and so on.
