This 3PC cell yielded 2%5%% richer Cu and Au concentrate grades at higher recoveries (5% RCu and 15% RAu, respectively) while consuming only 5% of the circuit energy and occupying 10% of the actual footprint.

Mouse strains used were C57BL/6, LepOb/Ob (Zhang et al., 1994), LeprDb/Db (Chen et al., 1996), Ins2Akita (Wang et al., 1999), Insulin2-Cre transgenic mice (Postic et al., 1999), Ucn3-GFP transgenic mice (Gong et al., 2003), SCID-beige mice, R26H2BCherry mice, and RCU mice.
Live fluorescence images of H2BmCherry and Ucn3 -GFP were taken on day 14, and compared to fresh RCU islets cultured on 804G for 24 hr.
Figure 5A thus show live insulin-lineage tracing mCherry and Ucn3-GFP fluorescence in RCU islets cultured on 804G for two weeks.
The diffusion of Oxygen Shuttle Gas (OSG), i.e. H2-H2O, theough the RCU pores and the gap between RSOFC and RCU is sufficiently fast.
The experimental design, outlined in Figure 4A, employs healthy islets from adult RCU mice, isolated on day 1 and plated on an adherent 804G matrix in a 384-well plate format.
The first distance corresponded to the interatomic distance of Al Al (2.86 Å); the second to the Cu Al and the third to the calculated Pauling single bond radius (rCu = 1.17/2 Å) The latter distance was shorter than the Cu Cu interatomic distance (Cu Cu = 2.56 Å).
A list of all compounds and concentrations appears in Supplementary files 1. Fresh un-manipulated RCU islets were used as a positive control, and DMSO- or untreated islets were used as a negative control.
