Hepatic resection is the mainstay of curative treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with perioperative and survival results improving in recent years. 1 Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a rapidly growing thermal ablative therapy for small HCC that is also potentially curative.
As shown in Figure 1, radiofrequency ablation of B16-OVA resulted in a clear delay in the outgrowth of B16-OVA tumour cells as compared to naïve controls and a low level of protection (20% of the mice, lower right panel).
