The mechanical resistance of the morphological elements of all examined cultivars could be ordered as follows (according to increasing values): (1) perimedullary zone, (2) pith and (3) cortex.
Adsorbents such as activated carbon [3], pith carbon [4], bagasse fly ash [5], rice husk [6] and cashew nut shell [7] have been used for dye decolorization under the batch mode.
The slight increase was, however, significant only in the initial hydrolysis (t-test: P < 0.01 at 4 h and P < 0.10 for RC pith at 8 h; P < 0.01 up to 8 h for H58 pith) of pith in RC.
Despite the increase in xylose release when supplementing with the AXE, no additional cellulose seems to have been solubilized, implying that deacetylation of xylan in H58 pith did not lead to the release of previously unhydrolyzed xylan and consequently cellulose structures.

After 72 h of reaction, the glucose release from the RC and H58 piths leveled at similar values: 70% of total glucan in RC and slightly higher, 73 to 77% of total glucan, in H58 with the C and C-X mixtures.
Up to now, there have been many successful methodologies for the fabrication of activated carbon materials, such as pinewood-based activated carbon [4], coir pith activated carbon [5], rice husk-based activated carbon [6], and bamboo-based activated carbon [7].
These materials include Jerusalem artichoke [21], waste rice hulls [22], homemade cocoa shell [23], waste tea [24], coir pith [25], orange peels [26], jute sticks [27], walnut [28], palm oil shell [29], Acacia mangium wood [30] and waste tires [31].
