TRAP staining was scored semi-quantitatively (on a scale from 0 to 4): 0, no osteoclasts per paw; 1, 1 to 10 osteoclasts per paw; 2, 11 to 20 osteoclasts per paw; 3, 21 to 50 osteoclasts per paw; and 4, more than 50 osteoclasts per paw.
IAP intra-abdominal pressure, IAH intra-abdominal hypertension, grading of IAH according to the World Society of Abdominal Compartment Syndrome [1], PAW peak airway pressure, IAV intra-abdominal volume, C AB abdominal compliance.
Both arthritic index and paw thickness were markedly improved in CIA + quetiapine treatment group compared with those in CIA groups (arthritic index; P < 0.01, paw thickness; P < 0.05).
A total of 23 paw parameters based on individual paw prints, regularity index, base of support, sciatic functional index (de Medinaceli et al. 1982), and phase dispersions were calculated (Table 1).
The number of squares through which the mice traveled (3 paw entry), time spent in the inner square (2 paw entry), time spent in rearing and grooming were read from the video.
The highest possible score was 15, and the lowest score was 0. Paw preference was estimated according to the method of Branson and Rogers [8].
The effect of K1 5 was dose dependent, in that 0.2 mg/kg (4 μg per mouse) every day until day 10 was without significant effect on CIA progression (increase in clinical score on day10 of arthritis 4.00 ± 1.06 [Fig. 1], paw swelling on day 10 of arthritis 0.49 ± 0.10 mm [Fig. 2]).
