After an automatic NIP extraction alignment procedure, we obtained 122 NIP regions containing two or more near introns (NIP distance < 50 nt).
XRD data concerning Ni-P-Re plating revealed the following phases: Ni, Ni3P, Ni0.21Re0.79, Ni5P2 and NiP, while TEM investigation confirmed the presence of Ni3P, NiP, Ni5P2 so far.
The computational filtering concluded with 122 NIP regions that were then inspected manually for validity, resulting in 36 NIPs.
We also identified 12 NIP and 7 SIP members that showed more divergence.
NIPs are widely distributed in both leguminous and non-leguminous plants, and 9 and 13 NIP genes are encoded by the Arabidopsis and rice genomes, respectively [ 43].
The Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa, and Physcomitrella patens genomes encode 9, 13, and at least 5 NIP proteins respectively [ 3, 4, 7].
It was reported that there are 9, 13, 9 and 6 NIP genes encoded in the Arabidopsis, rice, sorghum, and Cucumis sativus genomes, respectively [ 1].
Among the 52 NIP descriptors used for this investigation, we identified using feature selection algorithms (see Methods) the smallest subsets of descriptors that best discriminate taxa.
Grade 1 and 2a NIP, defined as abnormal radiological findings in asymptomatic patients or patients with cough, do not need dose adjustment, but grade 2b, 3 and 4 NIP, defined as severe cough requiring oxygen may need dose reduction or drug withdrawal and steroid treatment.
To gain more functional understanding of the NIP proteins, we first performed a phylogenetic analysis including 33 NIP homologs from various species, using rat AQP9 as an out-group.
According to the phylogenetic analysis, 51 HbAQPs were grouped into five subfamilies, i.e. PIP (15), TIP (17), NIP (9), SIP (4) and XIP (6) (Table 1; Fig. 1).
