The average ages and standard deviations of the patients whose specimens were included in the TMAs at the time of specimen retrieval were 66.7 ± 6.2 for PCa, 66.9 ± 8.31 for BPH, 32.1 ± 12.7 for NDP, 67.9 ± 5.25 for NAC, and 66.5 ± 5.7 for HGPIN.
But we detected transcription changes in unexpected genes, Nanos2 and Pdk4, which are increased by roughly 2-fold and 1.5-fold respectively, and Ndp, Pgpep1, Brms1l, Mett10d and Snx1, which are reduced by 25 55% (Figure 2 and Table 1).
These findings suggest that oxidative modifications of Nm23 regulate the functions of Nm23-H1, NDP kinase activity, and cell migration potential.
Unlike in adult rodents, expression levels of Nanos2 and Pdk4 were increased, and those of Pgpep1, Ndp, Brms1l, Mett10d, and Snx1 were decreased after neonatal deprivation.
Five of the chosen six with high to modest level of expression (Ing2, Pgpep1, Brms1l, Ndp, Snx1 and Mett10d) were validated by real-time RT-PCR analysis (all but Ing2) (Fig. 2B and Table 1).
As shown in table 3, NDP has been established in Iran and updated in the last 10 years with inclusion of necessary regulations and drug control legislations.
The cnidarian peptides appear to have duplicated in similar fashion to the bilaterian peptides, with primary structure features more specific to Burs/GPH, Grem, NBL1, NDP, and SOSD.
The putative molecular functions of these four candidate genes are diverse (SOURCE web tool of Stanford University [ 28]), as it is the case for the previously described known mental retardation genes (SLC6A8, MECP2, NDP, FMR2, and SLC6A8, table 1).
All patients received 1 to 3 courses of the combined therapy of CPT-11 and Nedaplatin (NDP) every 3 weeks before undergoing the surgery, as previously described: CPT-11, 60 mg/m on days 1 and 8; NDP, 60 mg/m on day 1 [ 10].
Six of genes in Table 7 (NDP kinase, Complement factor D, Collagen alpha 2 (XI), Desmin, Myosin and CD37) are recognized as marker genes for colon cancer in [ 11].
An enhanced expression in hippocampus, cerebellum, and the olfactory bulb has been shown for several genes known to cause mental retardation, namely MECP2 [ 18], NDP [ 23], FMR2 [ 24], and SLC6A8 (this work), whereas their putative molecular functions are diverse (table 1).
