Two RDT types are in common use; 1) HRP-2; which detects a histidine-rich protein produced by P. falciparum, and 2) pLDH; which detects the parasite lactate dehydrogenase (pLDH) enzymes produced by all species of Plasmodium that cause malaria in humans (WHO 2010b; Wongsrichanalai 2007).

As shown in Fig. 2a, HRP NPs and HRP RGD NPs featured absorbance peaks for RV at 304 nm, indicating the presence of RV in both nanoparticles.
For both fractions, 40 mL 1 mM H2O2, 100 mL 15 mM ABTS, and 10 mL 3.3 U mL−1 HRP were placed in 1 mL quartz cuvettes and gently shaken for 10 sec, after which 830 mL 50 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) was added and mixed with a stir paddle.
To each 50 µl sample was added 50 µl of reagent containing 0.25 U.ml−1 HRP, 0.08 U.ml−1 Glutamate oxydase, 0.5 U.ml−1 Glutamate pyruvate synthase, 0.2 mM L-alanine and 100 µM amplex red in 0.1 mM Tris buffer, pH 7.4.
The antibodies used were anti-FLAG M2 HRP (Sigma), anti-V5 HRP (Bethyl Laboratories), and anti-GST HRP (Roche).
Diluted anti-ET-1 HRP conjugate (100 μL) (ET-1 conjugated to horseradish peroxidase) was added in each well.
