The symptom categories were as follows: (1) fever, (2) constitutional symptoms (e.g. chill, headache, muscle ache) and (3) respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, sore throat, nasal congestion).
Dipietrantonio [27] defined CLRBSI as either (1) fever that resolved after line removal or (2) catheter tip and blood culture with the same organism AND not associated with some other cause, but did not meet CDC criteria.
