They have been assessed in various animal models: rats abdominal wall [ 50, 58, 74, 80– 82], rats rectus fascia [ 38, 76, 83], rabbits bladder neck [ 84], rabbits abdominal wall [ 85], rabbits rectus fascia [ 26], rabbits vaginas [ 65, 86], minipigs hernia [ 77], pigs peritoneum [ 75, 87], ewes vagina [ 78, 88], and ewes abdominal wall [ 78] in addition to few clinical studies [ 27, 89– 91].

A 3mm × 3mm fascia piece was then transferred to either glass plates (for SHG experiments) or to electrically conductive substrates (platinized silicon wafers, for performing PFM).
Three types of collagenous tissue were studied for thermal-induced contraction: (1) adipose tissue with septal and reticular connective tissue, (2) dermis, and (3) fascia.
As shown in our previous work [ 41], fascia is composed of two distinct layers, the top one (on the muscle side) consisting of quasi-randomly-oriented fibers and fiber bundles and a second one, composed of parallel, separate collagen fiber bundles.
This study demonstrates that: (1) parenteral NSAIDs are very effective as analgesics after hip fractures in elderly patients, (2) fascia-iliaca regional blocks are nearly as effective for up to about 8 h after administration, and (3) regional fascia-iliaca blocks effectively control post-hip fracture pain without narcotics' deleterious side effects.

One or more Achilles tendon strips [1], the fascia lata [2] and tendons from the plantaris [3], peroneus brevis [4], flexor digitorum longus [5], flexor hallucis longus [6] or posterior tibial [7] tendons were the grafts utilized in these procedures.
