Kaplan Meier estimates of DFS at 5 years were 0.51 for CMF, 0.56 for CMF → GT, 0.53 for A → CMF and 0.71 for A → CMF → GT.
Neutropenic sepsis, defined as concurrent neutropenia and infection was reported in 346 (3%) cycles (3% ECMF; 3% CMF, P=0.84), by 247 (13%) patients (14% ECMF; 11% CMF, P=0.06).
As initial chemotherapy, 102 women received AC (doxorubicin/cyclophosphamide), 39 received CMF (cyclophosphamide/methotrexate/5-fluorouracil) and 18 received CAF (cyclophosphamide/doxorubicin/5-fluorouracil).

Of the 463 patients, 387 received tamoxifen as first-line treatment, and 76 received polychemotherapy as first-line treatment (cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, 5-fluorouracil (CMF), 59 patients; 5-fluorouracil and cyclophosphamide with adriamycin (FAC); or with epirubicin (FEC) in 17 patients).

Of these, 352 patients received classical CMF, 6065 CMF i.v. and 1084 CEF with median delays of 31, 28 and 30 days, respectively.
Out of the 2021 patients randomised, 18 suffered deaths attributed to chemotherapy (<1%; 5 ECMF: 13 CMF).
We then excluded 313 CMF records for which the year of death was before 1969 or after 2001.
Supportive treatment information is available for all 13 625 cycles that have been completed by 2012 eligible patients (7777 ECMF, 5848 CMF).
The relatively greatest change (-5.6%; ccMF) and SRM (-0.50; cMF) was found in participants with grade 2 or 3 medial JSN (Table 2).
