So I took another look at my solve, and bingo!
I bounced around this grid during my solve, but for some reason I never ran into the payoffs at 1 Down and 55 Across.
Still, I struggled with parts of the puzzle, and found my solve — not necessarily the cluing, just gaps in my own knowledge — oddly tough.
There was a bittersweet point in my solve where I noted that we are down to one remaining Bee GEE, although I think it's nice that we remember all of them at 55 Across.
This was one grid where I happened to start in the southeast, confidently plunking in TOT for "'Sesame Street' watcher," so I tumbled to the concept fairly early in my solve.
I had trouble with HYPHENED because I really wanted it to be HYPHENATED, and even got excited because I filled it in early in my solve and thought that I might have discovered an ATE rebus.
