Improving your writing is one of the best things you can do to succeed and maintain or improve your position in the workforce.

According to a study by Carleton University, people spend a third of their job time on emails only.
This is not coming as a surprise, since depending on your role, it is very likely you spend this amount of time on the same tasks. This is without mentioning presentations, reports, and regular paperwork. The disruption of technologies in our lives has changed our work and life habits in many ways, but it has also provided us with incredible tools and opportunities to develop, organize and share our ideas and stories with the world.
I have been writing and publishing articles since 2015, and as per today, I can say it is a key part of my portfolio, business card and a unique way to position myself in my sector. Writing has opened the doors not only to new opportunities but to a more efficient and clear way to organize and give structure to everything my brain is capable of producing.
This is why I created Writty (), a simple writing app to help you (and me) focus on what matters: the content. Improving your writing skills comes first, however, we tend to overlook and choose poorly our tools. As a product designer, I realized that the wrong tool could hold our writing back more than we might think. Oversaturated toolbars, continual interruptions, hundreds of unclear options and that constant feeling you don't know the app are the perfect mix to make you lose time and nerves. For me, solving this problem was a necessity. I wanted to create something that will remove all that unnecessary noise, and that's how Writty was born.

Writty, write better with writty

But despite enjoying writing as never before thanks to Writty, there was still a problem to be solved.

The Remained Problem

Writing is not easy, behind every sentence you read there is usually research, long pauses to think about how to put the ideas together and of course, lots and lots of editing. When you write, there is something critical you need to maintain to create quality content, and this is context. Context is the invisible thread that connects concepts and provides meaning to what you write. The clearer and better structured the context is, the easier and more enjoyable your piece will be to read.
But creating and maintaining context requires time, effort and multiple Google searches to make sure you got it right. Despite being extremely happy with how much my writing has improved with Writty, this was still a burden. Having to stop every two sentences to search for the right way to build an idea or for better alternatives to put things together was one of the main remaining problems I had while writing. Until I discovered Ludwig ?!

Ludwig: The Perfect Companion

Ludwig the perfect companion for writty

I discovered Ludwig a couple of months ago and since then it has made a massive difference in quality and time. It feels like I have found the right dance partner for my writing app. And this is precisely part of Ludwig's essence, to be the perfect match for you as a writer, regardless of the tool you use.
Ludwig's statement is simple and powerful. This app claims to be "The first sentence search engine that helps you write better English by giving you contextualized examples taken from reliable sources." And it does what it says!
Let me explain more clearly why I love this app:
1. It solves a massive problem for anyone who writes, from a simple email to a book ❤️
It makes writing much more enjoyable. The constant interruptions of 5 to 10 min searching online has been reduced to seconds thanks to Ludwig’s beautiful interface and the magical combination of 3 keys: 'Shift + Cmd + L' Check how it works! Reducing that focus switch to the minimum thanks to Ludwig has been proven very beneficial not only for my writing process, but for my brain too.

2. It gives you certainty ?
If you are a non-native English speaker, this app is a must. Having the right context I need to construct my sentences within seconds with lots of examples and alternatives is a luxury if you value your time and your mental health as much as I do. But even if you are a native English speaker or have a full domain of Shakespeare's language, this app can give you so much more!

  • Once you run a search, you can get plenty of definitions, synonyms, and real examples from reliable sources like The Economist, The Guardian or The New York Times.
  • Ludwig doesn't only solve your doubts when writing, it also translates phrases and sentences from your language into its English equivalent and checks if that translation makes sense using real examples for context.
  • If you can’t find the right word to complete a sentence, the 'Wildcard' feature helps you find that word by providing you with excellent options together with great examples. Context at its best!

3. It respects the user ?
There are two types of apps out there, those who use you and those you can use. Ludwig and Writty were created to serve the users, respecting their time, adapting to their needs and with a clear non-invasive philosophy. Ludwig works with any app, not only Writty, you can use it with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Notes, anything it comes with a text.
But most importantly, it gives you space and responds only to what you need, when you need it and if you want to use it. In a world with thousands of apps demanding your attention and time, having solutions like Ludwig and Writty, created to help you preserve your oasis of calm while assisting you is something that I believe will dictate the future of our relationship with technology.
If you want to learn more or try Ludwig you can do it here. You can start using it for free and download its amazing app. Also, don't miss this blogwig post to make sure that you're taking the most out of it.

Being a better writer is being a better thinker!

Despite popular belief, people are reading more than ever before, but it is the type of content and the reading patterns which have changed. From full books to Twitter threads, from long pages to short paragraphs. Today we scan screens, identify what interests us and that impacts the content and the style of how we write.
Writing is much more than a sales tool or a basic skill for efficiency. It is one of the most efficient ways to organize your ideas and share them. In today's world, it is an excellent way, not only to exchange information but also to trade one of the most valuable assets we humans have: Our knowledge. And those who dare to be more than readers, hold a key skill to the future.
I believe in technology as a facilitator and an enhancer of everything good, we humans can achieve. And those products with a business model focused on this idea instead of pure engagement and time demanding practices are the ones which will drive this change to happen. That's why I created Writty, and that’s what I love about Ludwig too. Thanks to these tools, today I am a better writer and thinker, and I think this could work for you too.
Thank you for reading!
